Port of HaminaKotka throughput in 7M’2018 up 14.9% Y-o-Y to 9.63 million tonnes
In January-July 2018, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 9.63 million tonnes of cargo (+14.9%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 7.7% to 6.62 million tonnes including 1.62 million tonnes of paper (+3.5%), 778,360 tonnes of cellulose (-15.6%), 1.2 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-0.7%) and 1.2 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+30%).
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 34.7% to 3 million tonnes including 770,740 tonnes of general cargo (+17.2%), 609,770 tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+25.3%) and 598,190 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-1.3%).
Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 23.7% to 2.49 million tonnes, domestic traffic fell by 3.7% to 448,700 tonnes.
Transshipment of containers fell by 1.1% to 393,560 TEUs.
The number of calls grew by 10.6% to 1,616.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2017, the port handled 14.66 mln t of cargo.
