Container traffic at the Port of Los Angeles in January-July period of 2018 decreased by 2.59% compared to the corresponding period last year to 5,142,703.15 TEUs, the port container trade statistics showed.
In July, the volume dropped by 4.61% on June 2017 to 833,567.85 TEUs. Loaded container volume rose 5.97% to 606,156.30 TEUs and handling of empty containers increased by 1,17% to 227,411.55 TEUs.
Port of Los Angeles is the largest seaport of the United States. The Port encompasses 3.5 ha, 69km of waterfront and features 27 cargo terminals, including dry and liquid bulk, container breakbulk, automobile and omni facilities. In 2017, the Port of Los Angeles handled 9.3 million TEUs. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach form together the U.S. port complex, one of the world’s biggest hub.
