The railway to Sabetta, Yamal is supposed to be built as a concession project. This was reported by the regional head Dmitry Artyukhov at a working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Our next task is to lay rail tracks to Sabetta... This, of course, is currently a special centre for the development of the Arctic, which is undoubtedly, the main centre of the Northern Sea Route development. And our task is to bring the Russian Railways network to Sabetta. I am sure that we will cope with this project. We have been in very productive talks with key companies: Gazprom, RZD. I think we will succeed in implementing yet another concession, and the railway will come to Sabetta. It is an urgent need for the Arctic centre to develop, and we have everything for this," Dmitry Artyukhov was quoted as saying.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin has announced plans to transship various cargoes via the Port of Sabetta besides LNG. The Sabetta projected annual cargo throughput was estimated at about 70 million tonnes.
