On the afternoon of September 12, Greek local time, the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Guangzhou Port Authority, which marked the establishment of strategic partnership between the two ports to jointly promote the Belt and Road construction, COSCO SHIPPING said in its press release. Capt. Fu Chengqiu, President of COSCO SHIPPING Piraeus Port Ltd. and CEO of PPA and Mr. Chen Hongxian, Director of the Guangzhou Port Authority, inked the MOU on behalf of the two sides.
As sister ports, Piraeus and Guangzhou will work closely in the fields of exchanges and mutual visits, information sharing, personnel training, port environmental protection, energy saving and emission reduction. By sharing their practical experience in port management, the two ports will further boost the regional economy and serve as better gateways for international trade.
