Russian Railways' network loading up 2.7% to 962.3 million tonnes in 9M’18

In January-September 2018, the network of Russian Railways loaded 962.3 million tonnes of cargo, up 2.7%, year-on-year, the Company’s press center says.

In the reporting period the railways shipped the following goods: coal – 276.3 million tonnes (+5.1% year-on-year); coke – 8.2 million tonnes (-2.3%); crude oil and oil products – 175.9 million tonnes (+0.4%); iron and manganese ore – 86.5 million tonnes (+5%); ferrous metal – 58.8 million tonnes (+9.9%); ferrous metal scrap – 11.6 million tonnes (+1.3%); chemical and mineral fertilizers  – 44.2 million tonnes (+4%); cement – 19.7 million tonnes (-7.2%); timber – 34.7 million tonnes (+4%); grain – 20 million tonnes (+36.9%); construction materials– 95.7 million tonnes (-6.1%); non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock – 15.2 million tonnes (-0.5%); chemicals and soda – 19.8 million tonnes (+2.3%); industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 26.5 million tonnes (-3.2%).

From the beginning of the year, freight turnover totaled 1,928.4 billion tariff ton-km (+4.4%). Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run – 2453.6 billion ton-km (+4.2%).

In September, loading totaled 104.5 million tonnes (+0.7% year-on-year).

In September 2018, freight turnover grew by 2.9% to 209.5 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run totaled 266.6 billion tariff ton-km (+2.8%).
