Nizhny Novgorod, Russia based Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) is planning local production of some equipment and materials for dry cargo carrier of Project RSD59. As Igor Vitebsky, Logistics Director of the shipbuilding company, told IAA PortNews, Krasnoye Sormovo is going to use conditioning system, metal and fittings manufactured in Russia. “We also work with local manufacturers of glass panels, anchors and cables. We are currently looking into using domestic paints”, he said.
The shipyard launched the fifth dry cargo ship of Project RSD59 on 21 September 2018. Project RSD59 ships of Volgo-Don Max class are designed for transportation of general, containerized cargo, timber, grain, oversize cargo and dangerous goods of B Class.
Key particulars of the ship: LOA – 140.88 m; Breadth – 16.98 m; Depth – 6 m; River/Sea DWT – 5,128/7,535 m; Cargo holds capacity – 11,292 m; Number of holds – two, River/Sea draft – 3.6/4.53 m, Endurance - 20/12 days.
Project RSD59 designer is Marine Engineering Bureau – Design SPb. Working design document was developed by Volga-Caspian Design Bureau.
