Vladimir Putin gives instructions to build freight-passenger ships for a link with Kuril Islands

RF Government is to ensure construction of freight-passenger ships for arranging a service between the Komandorskiye Islands/Severo-Kurilsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The instructions were given to RF government by Russian President Vladimir Putin after the State Council meeting, says press center of Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.

The activities will be performed as part of the “Transport System Development”, state programme of the Russian Federation. According to the document with the presidential instructions, the construction cost can be increased if necessary.

The vessels will be built for a regular service between the Kamchatka peninsula, the ports of Sakhalin, the Magadan Region, the Primorsky Territory and port points of the Kuril islands.

RF Government should submit a report on construction of the ships before December 30^th of the current year with next reports to be submitted half-yearly.

The State Council meeting was held on 10 September 2018 in Vladivostok.
