Shiprepairing Center Zvyozdochka (Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region) says its Astrakhan branch has completed the construction and testing of the Kapitan Guryev rescue towboat. According to the statement, RF Navy flag hoisting ceremony was held on 20 December 2018 at Novorossiysk base. The ship has joined RF Navy’s Black Sea fleet.
The Kapitan Guryev, a rescue towboat of Project 22870, is intended for towing and refloating operations, firefighting and rendering medical assistance, executing difficult diving works at the depths of up to 60 metres, collecting spilled oil products, search and survey operations.
The ship was laid down on 27 January 2016. The Kapitan Guryev is the fifth ship of Project 22870 built in Astrakhan. The lead ship of Project 22870 named Professor Nikolay Muru was delivered to RF Navy in 2014.
Characteristics of the ship designed by Design Bureau “Vympel" (Nizhny Novgorod): length – 57 meters, width – 14 meters, displacement – 1,200 tonnes, speed – 14 knots.
The ship is named after Grigory Guryev, participant of Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union.
