KONTUR SPb ERT unit’s drills get thumbs up from Rosmorrechflot’s certification commission
The expert commission recognized as successful the exercises conducted by the KONTUR SPb LLC emergency response team unit (ERT). The expert group of the Central Certification Commission of the Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot). The experts team led by Alexander Poshivay, deputy head of Rosmorrechflot on January 17-19 carried out an inspection to verify preparedness of KONTUR SPb under regular certification of the ERT unit, the Company said Tuesday.
To confirm its preparedness to response to accidents in the basin of Big Port St. Petersburg the ERT unit on January 19 conducted oil spill response exercises. The KONTUR SPb ERT unit owns and operates a fleet of tankers: the Kapitan Ponikarovsky, the Valeriy Zelenko, the MV SLV-012, the SKAT and two tugboats: the TOROS and BOREY. KONTUR SPb deployed for the drills the SLV-012, the SKAT and tugs TOROS and BOREY. A team of 18 rescuers.
During the exercises the KONTUR SPb OSR response unit used different oil spill recovery and pumping systems, tested fast transfer of oil-containment booms onto vessels. Despite the adverse ice conditions in the basin and the season’s severe frost, the OSR team successfully demonstrated its preparedness to perform all the tasks for containment and recovery under the oil spill scenario.
According to the OSR drills results the Rosmorrechflot commission confirmed the KONTUR SPb ERT unit fully complies with requirements and is ready for certification of provided emergency oil spill response services.
