NOVATEK is going to launch LNG plant in Vysotsk in February 2019, a source at the terminal told IAA PortNews.
According to the source, the facility is undergoing adjusting and startup procedures upon completion of which the plant will be put into operation.
Mark Gyetvay, Deputy Chairman of NOVATEK’s Management Board, earlier said that the company had contracted about 30% of the plant’s LNG volume.
The project on construction of a terminal for production, storage and shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the port of Vysotsk of the Leningrad Region is the largest one in the North-Western Region of Russia. The facility will be able to produce 660,000 tonnes of LNG per year will be among the three largest plants in Europe. Finland and Baltic states will be the key sales markets. Apart from LNG transshipment, the terminal will also let arrange bunkering of LNG-powered vessels. The project also includes construction of an offshoot pipeline from the main gas pipeline via Vyborg to the border (Leningrad-Vyborg-Gosgranitsa).
