Dredging works ordered by Zvezda shipyard to be performed in Bolshoy Kamen bay

Dredging works begin in the water area of the Bolshoy Kamen bay in the Primorsky Territory by the order of Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, says Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center JSC. According to the statement dredging is necessary for launching of ships to be built by Zvezda.

With dredging in the water area of the Bolshoy Kamen bay SC Zvezda will be able to build an access canal and to ensure required depth at hydraulic engineering structures: berths, pier and dry docks. Current depth in the bay of 6 to 7 meters is to be increased to 12.5-30 meters. That will let build and launch vessels without any limits regarding their tonnage and draft.

The works will be performed by two cutter-dredgers and two clamshell dredgers with auxiliary ships to transport excavated material to the dump area several kilometers off the Bolshoy Kamen bay.

Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex located in Bolshoy Kamen, Primorsky Region, is being created on the base of Zvezda Far-Eastern Plant by a consortium of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft and Gazprombank. The shipbuilding complex design provides for the construction of a heavy outfitting berth, a dry dock, full-cycle production shops, and shops for the construction of offshore marine facilities.

The Zvezda product range will comprise vessels up to 350,000dwt, elements of offshore platforms, ice-class vessels, special vessels and other marine equipment of various complexity, parameters and purpose, including the equipment that was not manufactured in Russia before through the absence of the required launching and hydraulic structures.

As of today, the Zvezda backlog of orders numbers 37 vessels.
