RF Government has made a decision on implementation of a new investment project on construction of a terminal for transshipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the sea port of Sabetta. According to the official website of the port, the decree was signed on 28 March 2019 (No 554-р).
The terminal is needed for the development of the Salmanovsky (Utrenny) oil and gas condensate field on the Gydan peninsula.
The document was developed by RF Transport Ministry.
The plan provides for construction of a sea terminal able to transship 19.8 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas and 1.8 million tonnes of gas condensate per year, construction of a plant to liquefy natural gas from the Salmanovsky (Utrenny) oil and gas condensate field on the Gydan peninsula.
The project foresees land reclamation for port infrastructure, technical racks, automobile passages, technical security efficient, other structures and auxiliary engineering facilities.
According to the statement, the decision will facilitate implementation of Clause 15 of the Presidential Order dated 7 May 2018 “On national objectives and strategic tasks of the Russian Federation development for the period through 2024” in the part of the Northern Sea Route development and expansion of NSR cargo flow to 80 million tonnes per year. In this respect, the project has been included into the comprehensive plan for upgrading and expanding core infrastructure approved by RF Government on 30 September 2018 (№2101-р).
