Belmax 8, the eighth non-self-propelled shallow-draft double-hulled tank barge of Project ROB20, “O” class, “New Belskaya” type was launched on 17 April 2019, says Marine Engineering Bureau, the ship designer.
A series of eight liquid bulk cargo vessels of Project ROB20 and two dry cargo vessels of Project RDB20 is being built for Saint-Petersburg based shipping company Belmax under the leasing contract signed on 31 October 2017 with State Transport Leasing Company as a customer.
Non-self-propelled tank barges of Project ROB20 are intended for transportation of petroleum products with a flashpoint of 600C and above. With their double sides and double bottoms the vessels feature an improved level of environmental friendliness. The barges will be operated on the Belaya, Kama and Volga rivers.
The lead ship of Project ROB20, Belmax 1 was laid down on 22 November 2017, launched on 19 April 2018 and delivered on 17 May 2018.
