  RSPP to submit to Russian Gov’t water transport development proposals after May 22

  

  The Commission of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) on transport and infrastructure decided to accumulate proposals from stakeholders on the development of water transport until May 22, 2019, a Russian Railways official said following the Commission meeting in Moscow. IAA PortNews correspondent quoted the Commission head and RZD president Oleg Belozerov as saying that the proposals will be submitted to the Ministry of Transport, Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov, and then probably to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
  
  The meeting participants noted the difficult state of the water transport sector in Russia, especially of inland water transport, and made a number of proposals to improve the situation. One of them is to ban the operation of ships over 40 years old, the foreign flagged old fleet operation in Russia, the adoption of new government incentives for the fleet renewal, etc.
  
  Following the meeting results, the Central Marine Research and Design Institute (CNIIMF) will prepare an analytical review of the status of the civilian fleet in Russia.
