IMO launches website for Marine Environment Protection of the South-East Asian Seas project
News and information about IMO's Marine Environment Protection of the South-East Asian Seas (MEPSEAS) project can be found on the newly-launched website: mepseas.imo.org., IMO said in its release.
The project, launched last year, is improving the environmental health of the seas in the region by supporting seven participating developing countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) to implement key IMO marine environment protection treaties. These treaties include the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL); the Anti-Fouling Systems Convention; the London dumping of wastes at sea convention and protocol; and the Ballast Water Management Convention.
IMO is implementing the project, with funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).
