Kuibyshev reservoir level allows for fleet operation - RF Transport Ministry

Despite the water saving in winter period of 2018 – 2019, a considerable decrease of spring flood inflow was observed. Besides, early beginning of low-water period resulted in deficit of water resources in the Volga-Kama reservoirs and lowering of the water level in Kuibyshev reservoir, press center of RF Transport Ministry told IAA PortNews.

At its meeting held on 7 May 2019,  interdepartmental working group on regulation of the Volga-Kama reservoirs’ operation announced an economy mode of hydrosystems till 1 July 2019 taking into consideration the forecasted inflow, precipitation and temperature.

“Thanks to the measures undertaken to regulate discharge of water from the Volga-Kama reservoirs, the Kuibyshev reservoir level allows for fleet operation with no limits today”, says the ministry.
