Investments in railway projects of the comprehensive plan for upgrading and expanding core infrastructure will total RUB 184 billion in 2019, Andrey Makarov, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways, said at the meeting of the Federation Council’s Commission. He told about the 2019 activities on implementation of railway projects under the comprehensive plan for upgrading and expanding core infrastructure covering the period till 2024, says press center of Russian Railways.
The railway section of the Plan includes 9 projects of Russian Railways. Among them are the major projects to increase the speed of container transportation from the Far East to the Western border of Russia up to 7 days and 4-fold increase of container transit as well as increase of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian railways capacity to 180 million tonnes and expansion of railway approaches to the ports of the Azov-Black Sea and Caspian basins.
According to Andrey Makarov, financing of those projects will total RUB 1.2 trillion by 2024 and will be fully covered by Russian Railways. In 2019, investments into implementation of railway projects will make RUB 184.3 billion.
