Council of Federation approves procedure for tourist ships' entering Russia’s Far East and Arctic zones
At the meeting of the Federation Council held on 23 July 2019, the senators approved the law specifying the procedure of tourist ships' entering the seas in the territory of the Russian Federation adjacent to the Arctic and the Far East regions, say press center of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic.
The amendments were introduced into Article No 16 of the RF Law on the State Border of the Russian Federation and into Article No 142 of the Federal Law on the Internal Sea Waters, Territorial Sea and Contiguous Zone of the Russian Federation (in the part of the procedure of tourist ships' entering the seas in the territory of the Russian Federation adjacent to the Arctic and/or the Far East regions). According to the amendments, the list approved by RF Government should contain ports allowing foreign tourist ships embark/disembark passengers and load/unload stores.
According to Leonid Petukhov, General Director of the Far East Investment and Export Agency, the law will stimulate the development of tourism in the Far East and in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The Agency supports the projects on creation of high standard infrastructure including construction of hotels, health and recreation facilities as well as development of tourism products”, he said.
