KCC accepts delivery of CLEANBU vessel MV Barracuda

Klaveness Combination Carriers ASA (“KCC”) says that it has taken delivery of the MV Barracuda from New Yangzi Shipyard in China. The MV Barracuda is the second of eight contracted CLEANBU vessels that will be delivered from New Yangzi Shipyard in the period 2019 to 2021.

This next generation of combination carriers is unique both in terms of vessel design, unprecedented environmental performance, operational and technical efficiency. The CLEANBUs have up to 40% lower CO2 emissions per ton mile transported cargo compared to standard vessels, and goes a long way in meeting IMO’s 2050 targets of a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions from shipping.

With the delivery of the MV Barracuda, Klaveness Combination Carriers will operate a fleet of 11 combination carriers. KCC has fixed-price options to contract a further five CLEANBUs for delivery in 2021 and 2022.

The vessel is ready for its first employment, transporting a cargo of caustic soda solution from the Far East to Australia.
