Natalia Sakharova, Managing Partner, AGW Investment Fund RAIF VCIC Plc, will speak at the 3rd “LNG Fleet and LNG Bunkering in Russia” conference with a report “Practical aspects of shipping industry financing in EU through the example of a functioning investment fund, CySEC regulation”. The event will be held on 22 October 2019 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Moscow.
According to Natalia Sakharova, financing is among the challenges faced by ship owners when renovating their fleet for compliance with new IMO requirements on reduction of emissions. Bank capital that had been dominating in the segment for a long period of time has reduced its presence in the industry.
Today’s fleet is in search of alternative ways of technical condition maintenance, renovation and development for a transition to a new type of fuel – from state subsidies to private capital. As for private capital, it generally comes from family offices or investment funds pursuing a strategy of investing in shipping industry.
“Through the example of the functioning investment model we will consider how a private capital within a fund under European regulations can help a ship owner finance its fleet renovation and raise its environmental standards to new horizons”, says Natalia Sakharova.
The conference is organized by Russia’s leading media group PortNews with the assistance of RF Ministry of Industry and Trade and Russian Chamber of Shipping. PAO Gazprom is the General Partner of the conference.
The participants of the 3rd “LNG Fleet and LNG Bunkering in Russia” conference will discuss the implementation of projects on using LNG by ships, determine the problems related to creation and development of the new sector, outline the ways of solution.
The conference programme and the list of participants is provided upon request.
