Sohar Port & Freezone inaugurate new Svitzer pilot boat duo

Svitzer says it attend the inauguration ceremony of its two new pilot boats in the Port of Sohar on 7 October 2019. The boats were built by Besiktas Shipyard in Turkey. They are Camarc Design pilot boats equipped with two Caterpillar engines and are each capable of carrying 12 people. We are honoured to be providing towage and pilot boat services to the Port of Sohar, which is the lifeline of the Sultanate of Oman with more than 80% of Oman’s import and export trade coming through the port, for many years to come.

Sohar being part of our Svitzer AMEA region (Africa, Middle East and Asia) where we serve our customers across 10 countries with our regional fleet of 60 vessels.
