Bremen’s port railway starts new service

Bremen’s port railway is now offering its customers a new service, the company said in its release. The DB Netz AG app “railway.tools” makes it easier for transport logistics providers and freight forwarders to plan combined rail and road transports.

The interactive map provides a clear overview of the various options for access to transport for the first and last miles as well as the main haul in the European combined transport network. The tool features all rail-bound public container terminals in Europe and states which non-stop and transfer connections they offer as well as the transport operators. It also shows transport logistics companies and freight forwarders in Germany and abroad who offer road transport for the first and last miles.

With rail terminals in Bremerhaven, Bremen Grolland and Bremen Inlandshafen, the port railway is an efficient interface between the hinterland and the waterside transhipment terminals. It is thanks to the port railway that Bremen’s ports are the top performing European rail terminal in terms of throughput percentage.
