HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the shipbuilding intermediate holding company of the HD Hyundai Group, announced on Monday that its subsidiary HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has received an order for two very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) from an Oceania-based shipper, according to KED Global.
The total contract amount is 317.3 billion won ($240.7 million), and the two ships will be constructed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered to the Oceania-based shipper by March 2027.
The latest contract marks the second shipbuilding deal for HD Hyundai Heavy Industries this year. The company signed on Jan. 5 a shipbuilding contract for two 88,000-cubic-meter liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers with a Europe-based shipper. The contract is valued at 303.2 billion won ($230 million), and the two vessels are scheduled for sequential delivery to the shipowner by the first half of 2027.
