NORDEN expands project cargo fleet with two innovative and fuel-efficient vessels

NORDEN has announced the addition of two new 17,500 dwt Multi-purpose (MPP) vessels to its fleet, leased with purchase options. These vessels, expected to be delivered by the end of 2026, will bolster NORDEN's growing presence in the project cargo segment, according to the company's release.

The two new vessels feature an innovative design with the bridge positioned at the front of the ship, maximizing cargo space for project cargo such as windmill blades.

These vessels are designed for high fuel efficiency and are compatible with biofuels, enabling NORDEN to offer customers lower-emission transportation solutions. "To further enhance our service to customers, NORDEN is building a core fleet of Multi-purpose general cargo vessels," said Thomas N. Mikkelsen, Head of Projects & Parcelling at NORDEN. "We are dedicated to becoming a leading project carrier and provide our customers with efficient shipping solutions."

With the addition of these new vessels, NORDEN's project cargo fleet will grow to 45 specialized vessels, transporting a diverse range of cargo, including windmill components, large-scale batteries, industrial plant components, steel, and forestry products. NORDEN's project cargo segment is part of its broader ocean-based global freight service, which encompasses a fleet of nearly 500 vessels across various dry and liquid bulk cargo segments.
