The Sea Administration of the Astrakhan port has expanded the borders of water area by 30 kilometers
Since April, 2006 the Sea Administration of the Astrakhan port has expanded the borders of water area by 30 kilometers according to the amendment to a list of internal waterways made by the Government of the Russian Federation, RZHD writes. Experts of the port emphasize, that in connection with the expansion of water area from Krasnyje Barricades settlement up to Streletskoje settlement, two more points (the Alpha-port and the Central cargo port are to be added to current three points where a call of foreign vessels was allowed (the Astrakhan port, Streletskoje Terminal, the Sea fishing port). It will allow simplifying a procedure of boundary and customs registration. Earlier vessels under the foreign flags were authorized to come into these ports only in the single file at a level of intergovernmental agreements. A necessity of expanding of the border of water area of Astrakhan SAP can be explained by the fact that today almost all freight traffics are provided by foreign trade sea transportations, though earlier cargoes transported by river vessels came through the Astrakhan berths. 19 stevedore companies of the region deal with that kind of transportations.
