Barge capsizes off Pakistan’s coast, spills some oil into sea
A barge capsized late Friday (October 6) off Pakistan’s southern coast with 70 tons of oil on board, spilling some of it into the Arabian Sea, The New Anatolian reports. The Orient 1 capsized about 3 nautical miles from Karachi, said Shahid Salim Lone, an administrator at Karachi Port Trust. The boat’s three crew were rescued. Port authorities placed booms around the capsized vessel to contain the spillage.
