The ocean lines say that this service enhancement is a reflection of the growing trade via the Suez route of high-value products destined to the U.S. East Coast. In addition to Savannah, the joint operators of the service have also announced that the Indamex will make regularly scheduled stops at Damietta, Egypt, on its voyage to the United States through the Suez Canal.
APL, Hapag-Lloyd, and CMA CGM operate seven vessels in the Indamex Service—with nominal capacity ranging from 3,800 to 4,500 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). The ships call at the ports of Colombo, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Damietta, New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Port Said, and back to Colombo.
