China's Yiwu city starts work on new logistics facility for foreign trade
Eastern China's Yiwu city in Zhejiang province has started building a new and larger container logistics facility for foreign trade, Xinhua reported.
The facility will have a total land area of 112 hectares according to plan. The CNY1.1 billion (US$151 million) first phase covers 41 hectares. After the first phase construction, the facility will handle 509,000 TEU a year and will offer logistics and customs clearing services. With completion of the second phase, the facility will have an annual export volume of 1 million TEU.
Yiwu's thriving foreign trade in the recent years has stimulated the development of local logistics industry. The Yiwu International Logistics Centre has reached its capacity limit.
