Mitsubishi awards a further five year UK warehousing contract to NYK Logistics
Mitsubishi Electric makes electrical and electronic equipment used in information processing and communications, space development and satellite communications, consumer electronics, industrial technology, energy, transport and building equipment.
NYK began working with the company in 2000 and provides warehousing and associated services for the company’s Living Environmental Systems, Factory Automation and Visual Information Systems business units, handling in excess of 8,000 Skus from large industrial air conditioning units to spare parts and instruction manuals.
Product is received into NYK’s distribution facility in Milton Keynes from Mitsubishi Electric’s manufacturing plants in Scotland and the Far East, the latter being transported to the UK by NYK’s shipping division, NYK Line. NYK Logistics also handles similar operations on behalf of Mitsubishi Electric in Germany, Italy and Spain.
The new contract will see the amount of space provided by NYK increase by more than 60 per cent to 151,000 sq ft, with an additional 59,000 sq ft expected to come on stream by 2012. The contract will also support Mitsubishi’s entry into new market sectors, including the recent launch of a range of environmentally friendly domestic heating systems.
