GAC sets up oil, gas logistics facility off India's Kakinada port

Global logistics, shipping, marine services provider, the GAC Group, says it has opened an offshore logistics facility 1.5 kilometres outside of Kakinada port and jetty in India.
The 10,000-square metre base is designed to provide neutral support services to India's offshore oil and gas industry based in and around the Kakinada, Yanam and West Godavari districts.
Services include storage and stacking space for drill rigs, platform and provision of a supply vessel together with equipment and materials. The offshore logistics facility also has its own storage areas, maintenance workshops and a secure warehouse.
The Dubai-based group said that with "increasing oil and gas exploration ongoing, power projects, fertiliser companies and a host of industries moving in, Kakinada is emerging as a hub for oil and gas exploration "
GAC's offshore logistics support is designed as a total service package consisting of initial documentation to facilitate the imports of specialised equipments such as rigs, platform support vessels and auxiliary support vessels, as well as consignments, including drilling equipment, rig testing equipment, rig service equipment and ship spares. With this in mind, GAC India has put in place its own customs house agents (CHA)," a group statement said.
The new offshore logistics service and facility in India is overseen by branch manager Commander CV Rajeswara Rao.
