Tug boats of Port Fleet CJSC successfully assisted the Mir sailing ship in her way under draw bridges

Tug boats Leonid Bochkov, Petergof and Evgeni Kocheshkov (Port Fleet CJSC, St. Petersburg) have successfully assisted the Mir sailing ship (State Marine Academy named after admiral Makarov) in her way under Blagoveshchensky and Dvortsovy bridges of St. Petersburg. Russia’s famous sailing ship moored at the Hermitage (Palace embankment of St. Petersburg) to participate in the Scarlet Sails festival at night from June 20 to June 21, the company’s press center informs.

The operation started on June 17 at 2.15 Moscow time. The Leonid Bochkov and Petergof tug boats assisted the ship from the ship’s bow and stern. The Evgeni Kocheshkov tug boat fulfilled an auxiliary function and later was left by the sailing ship to ensure safe moorage. The main part of the operation was over by 3.00 Moscow time. The ship will be assisted back on June 22.

It is difficult for Mir to pass the bridges because of the tall ship’s height and draft. “Port Fleet CJSC has experience in unique operations. That is why the organizers of the Scarlet Sails festival entrusted us with the sailing ship, which is to be the key element of the night show," Evgeni Savkin, Port Fleet Director General comments.

Port Fleet CJSC was set up in 1997. The company operates the fleet of 39 vessels being able to fulfill any tasks on integrated servicing of vessels both within the harbor waters of the port of St. Petersburg and outside it.
