Ukrainian ports will definitely be privatized, said Alexander Ryabchenko, the new head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF).
"Ports should be privatized. We will begin from small ports that can go private, then - large ones. But this is inevitable, it is the turn", LiGa agency quoted Mr. Ryabchenko as saying.
SPF of Ukraine has reportedly prepared and submitted its privatization program to Ukrainian Govt. It listed all the ports and other stat-owned enterprises.
Currently, there are 18 state-run commercial seaports in Ukraine. In 2009 the country’s seaports handled 109,72 million tons of cargo, a 17% decline y-o-y.
