Hong Kong could be first in Asia to run LNG ferries
Hong Kong, as usual among the first movers, may see its ferry and other marine transport operators becoming the first in Asia to adopt LNG-powered vessels, Seatrade Asia online reports.
Local reports quoted Australian aluminium fast ferry shipbuilding specialist Austal as saying there has been interest from local ferry operators and they have been having initial talks with Hong Kong ferry companies.
Austal was quoted as saying that Chu Kong Shipping, which operates mainly fast ferries linking Hong Kong and mainland cities in the Pearl River Delta, would be the most likely to adopt the new technology.
