Seaport St. Petersburg throughput jumps 26 percent
Freight flows passing through the terminals of Sea Port Saint-Petersburg in January-September 2012 totaled more than 6.7 million tons, a 26-percent surge from the same period a year before. The volume of bulk cargo soared by 2.6 times to 1.3 million tons.
General cargo traffic increased by 12% to 5.4 million tons.
During the reporting period, the port handled 54,746 vehicles, up 34% over the same period of 2011.
Exports rose 23% to 5.1 million tons, imports volume leaped by 34% to 1.6 million tons.
JSC Sea Port Saint-Petersburg (part of UCL Port, a stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) is the largest operator providing services for handling of all kinds of dry cargoes in Big Port St. Petersburg. The company operates modern specialized terminals for handling Ro-Ro cargoes, cars and metals. In 2011, cargo throughput at Sea Port Saint-Petersburg was 7.4 million tons.
