STX Shipbuilding wins drillship order

STX Offshore & Shipbuilding has won a new drillship order worth $700m from an unnamed European shipowner, Seatrade Asia online reports. The contract price includes options for four similar ultra-deepwater drillships. Delivery for the new vessel is scheduled from the second half of 2015 from Jinhae shipyard in South Korea. The firm drillship is 230 metres long and is capable of drilling up to 40,000 feet in waters of up to 12,000 feet.
