Estonian Waterways Board gets two bids for icebreaking work
Estonian Waterways Board received two bids for the procurement for finding an icebreaker for the Gulf of Finland for ten years, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.
The initial deadline for submitting bids was October 1, but it was expended till October 22 to give more time to potential bidders.
"Since free icebreakers practically aren’t available at the market, a procurement where several providers of icebreaking work participate can already be considered a success, in a way," said Waterways Board head Andrus Maide.
Estonia only has one icebreaker, Tarmo, and that is not enough to keep Gulf of Finland ports open in a cold winter.
