A tugboat to join searching operation for missing dry cargo ship Amurskaya

The tug Rubin (Ruby) has set out for the search of the dry bulk carrier Amurskaya, the Ministry of Transportation said. The tug is scheduled to arrive on the scene on November 3, 2012. Meanwhile, the BE-200 aircraft that conducted an over-flight did not spot the disappeared vessel. The tanker Novik, fishing boats the Captain Gams and the Terney-1, which participated in the search operation, had to find shelter until the weather improves in the area.

On October 28, the M/V Amurskaya, a bulk carrier laden with 700 tons of gold ore, issued a distress call in the area of Shantarsky islands in the Khabarovsk region. An emergency beacon of the vessel was sending signals of distress. There were nine or eight crew members, all Russian nationals, on board the disappeared ship.
