Spetsmornefteport Kozmino’s Berth Number 2 has been put into service with the firs tanker TH Sound’s call to the berth on Saturday, November 10. The tanker will deliver 100,000 tons of export ESPO Crude to Japan. The new berthing facility will help boost oil throughput to 30 million tons, the company said.
Dredging at the berth has been completed and now the facility is able to easily accommodate 120,000DWT tankers.
Expansion of Spetsmornefteport Kozmino is implemented in accordance with the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline project second phase. Engineering and survey at the site under the contract with Rosmorport started back in 2011. These included geological, environmental, land-surveying and diving survey of the seabed at Berth No 2. Dredging and formation of harbor area commenced in September.
In January-September, the terminal exported 10.3 million tons of crude oil to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR).
Specialized Marine Oil Terminal Kozmino, operated by Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC (a subsidiary of Transneft), was commissioned in late 2009. Port Kozmino is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). While the ESPO project is under construction oil cargo is delivered to the terminal by the railroad.
