Tasmanian port to expand operations
The Burnie City Council in northwest Tasmania plans to expand operations at its port, after State Government reassurance that freight services will continue as normal, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported.
The Council became concerned last year that Toll was considered moving its container shipping to Bell Bay, near Launceston.
General manager Paul Arnold says he has been reassured by Infrastructure Minister Graeme Sturges that the shipping of vegetables dairy and mining machinery will continue from Burnie.
