Taiwan's shipbuilder CSBC Corporation and classification society ABS have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly enhance design, energy efficiency and fabrication of various types of ships, Seatrade Asia online reports.
ABS has agreed to support CSBC in vessel and offshore asset construction, including offshore support vessels, bulk carriers, oil tankers, ice-classed vessels, and floating production units.
“Our long-term relationship will keep growing tighter and stronger through this multi-variant cooperation, and I believe it will make CSBC more competitive for the current challenging situation,” said Chen Lie-lin, president of CSBC.
The two organizations will work together to develop a systematic training program for professionals involved in design, construction and operation of ships based on ABS training courses. In addition an exchange program will be developed for ABS and CSBC engineers to improve communication between the organisations and foster better understanding of the individual business models.
