Shanghai's US-EU trade off, but 15.4pc more with Japan
The export growth of Shanghai to the Europe and the US slowed in 2008, but increased to Japan, reports Xinhua.
Shanghai-Japan import and export value increased 15.4 per cent to US$84.12 billion in 2008, 2.7 per cent faster over 2007. As a result, Japan's ranking as the third biggest trade partner with Shanghai was reinforced.
While the EU and US ranks first and second in trade value for Shanghai, growth has slowed. Shanghai-EU foreign trade value grew 22.6 per cent to $139.8 billion, down 7.6 per cent year on year.
Shanghai-US trade value rose 11.3 per cent to $105.13 billion, but grow was off 4.2 per cent year on year, five per cent lower than Shanghai's average growth of foreign trade.
