In Tallinn Bekker Port to be invested 60 mln. kroons
OÜ Tallinna Bekkeri Sadam announced its intention to invest 60 million kroons in Bekker porti n 2009, BBN/LETA informed.
Tallinna Bekkeri Sadam belongs to an entrepreneur Endel Siff.
At the start of February, material processing machinery Sennebogen 850 Special, worth costing approximately eight million kroons, arrived at the port, the company announced.
According to Tallinna Bekkeri Sadam, various port buildings make up most of this year's investments, made by the company.
Tallinna Bekkeri Sadam Board Chairman Marko Jürioja said that the machinery, bought in January, is meant mostly for sprinkling goods, such as grain, crushed stone and timber granules, but also for reloading mixed goods.
"Tallinn Bekker Port operates mainly on the market, servicing the adjacent sea transportation, where flexibility working with up to 5000-tons ships is of very high importance, which such material processing machinery allows. The leverage capacity of this specific machinery makes up 18 tons. We will continue with our investment program to fulfill the needs of our clients," Jürioja pointed out. According to him, 60 million kroons will be invested in the port this year. During the last years, the company invested over 200 million kroons into the Bekker-port development.
Bekker port handled 704 148 tons of shipments in 2008. The port was visited by 385 ships during the year.
