In January-October 2012, Russian Railways (RZD) implementing its investment program "Integrated Reconstruction of the 9 km-Yurovsky-Anapa-Temryuk-Kavkaz” has invested more than RUB 1.6 billion in the railway section of RZD’s branch North Caucasus Railroad (NCZD), the NCZD press release said.
The state-owned rail monopoly continues the construction of the second 23.5-km-long track on the Varenikovskaya-Jurowski and renovation of the Varenikovskaya railway station.
The program will enable RZD to reduce the travelling time of trains and increase the volume of freight bound for Taman Peninsula based sea ports.
