Diesel-electric submarine of the Northern Fleet B-471 Magnitogorsk has made successful transition from the Baltic to the Northern Fleet and returned to its place of permanent deployment, the Defense Ministry press release said.
During the voyage, which lasted more than two weeks, the submarine has covered 2,000 nautical miles, the crew conducted dozens of trainings and classes: the struggle for survival of the submarine, the organization of daily activities of the crew members, navigation in the surface and submerged modes, etc.
The Kilo-class diesel-powered submarine Magnitogorsk belongs to a series of Soviet and Russian submarines, built in 1982-2000. The submarine was laid down on October 26, 1988 under the name of B-471, launched on September 29, 1990 and commissioned into Northern Fleet on December 30, 1990. The sub was named Magnitogorsk in June 2001.
