Foreign ship sinks off Russia's Pacific coast, 8 sailors dead
Eight foreign sailors died after their ship sank in a storm off Russia's Pacific Coast, the regional maritime rescue center said on Sunday according to RIA Novosti.
The dry cargo vessel sailing under the Sierra Leone flag began sinking 50 miles from the port of Nakhodka in the Primorye Territory on Sunday morning, the rescue center said.
Half of the 16-member crew were picked up from a raft by a nearby Russian border guard vessel while the attempt to save the other eight sailors failed as they were washed off their life raft and drowned, the rescue center said.
