Volgograd Shipyard is on the verge of bankruptcy having lost its major customer
Volgograd Shipyard OJSC (MNP Group) is on the verge of bankruptcy. The shipyard is unable to pay out its credit line amounting to $60 mln due to bankruptcy of its major customer – Swedish Svithoid Tankers AB, Kommersant reports. Besides, the shipyard lost another customer – Donrechflot OJSC (contract for construction of RUR 10 mln vessel).
The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs says the shipyard may only avoid liquidation in case of federal support. However Volgograd Shipyard is not in the list of companies to be supported by the state. To survive the company has to complete construction of two vessels, which requires $17.2 mln.
MNP Group rejected to comment.
