Throughput of Nakhodka port down 5.6% to 1.3 mln t in Jan 09
In January 2009, the port of Nakhodka handled 1.302.1 million tonnes of cargo (-5.6%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Vostochny branch of RosMorPort FSUE.
In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 676,200 tonnes of dry cargo (-16.6%, year-on-year) including 127,700 tonnes of dry loose and bulk cargo (+34.7%). Transshipment of ore climbed by 24.8% to 32,200 tonnes, coal – by over 1.3 times to 95,500 tonnes. In the reported period, the port handled 50,300 tonnes of timber (-34%) including 17,900 tonnes of round timber (down 3.5 times) and 32,400 tonnes of sawn timber (up 2.4 times).
In January the port handled 496,800 tonnes of general cargo (-19.5%) including 421,100 tonnes of ferrous metal (-20%), 40,400 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (up almost 2-fold), 11,300 tonnes of scrap metal (+24%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo fell 2.8 times to 2,200 tonnes, packaged goods – fell by 43.5% to 19,600 tonnes. The port’s container throughput fell over 15 times to 260 TEU. Transshipment of oil products amounted to 625,900 tonnes (+9.8%).
Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
