Mitsui & Co., Ltd is interested in FESCO projects
On February 17, 2009 a delegation of Mitsui & Co., Ltd visited FESCO.
The Japanese businessmen have been exploring possibilities and opportunities, related to ocean-going and railway cargo transportations, export and import shipments between Japan and Europe via Russia and the Trans-Siberian railway route. Vladivostok makes an impression of the strategic transport hub for the business community of Japan, especially in terms of good prospects related to APEC-2012 infrastructure development projects.
The delegation of Mitsui & Co., Ltd visited terminals of the Commercial port of Vladivostok and the investment projects for port development were presented to the visitors. Following the sightseeing tour around the port terminals the parties continued discussions and negotiations in FESCO headquarters in Vladivostok. The guests were informed about FESCO Transportation Group, Commercial Port of Vladivostok, Vladivostok Container Terminal, DALREFTRANS and the maritime agency company TRANSFES.
According to Mr. Takuji Sasaki, Senior Coordinator (Europe Project): "Mitsui Group is much interested in FESCO projects related to development of port Vladivostok. Now we are in the stage of exploration of this matter and we will continue our discussions with Misui and FESCO management in Moscow".
The Japanese businessmen were much interested in block-trains, routes, stations of delivery, transit time, prices and prospects for development of this business.
Andrey Tokarev - FESCO Vice-President on Terminal Division, Alexey Mikhailov - Manager of Terminal Development, Viktor Padurya - General Director of FALREFTRANS Co., Ltd, Dmitry Kurdakov - General Director of Maritime Agency Company TRANSFES, presented the general outline of FESCO business structure and answered the questions of the Japanese party about FESCO opportunities and abilities, further plans of development, about the Russian Government involvement into the problems of the transport industry, the nature of the problems and possible solutions.
