BDZ and RZD create a new ferry line
Bulgaria's state-owned railway operator, BDZ, the Russian railways (RZD), and a Russian sea transport company have recently signed a contract for the establishing of the Varna-Port Kavkaz ferry line.
The present contract will be in force until the end of 2009, and may be extended after that, Novinite wrote according to Railway Market-CEE Review.
As part of the arrangements, Bulgaria's state railways, BDZ, will have to register as a port operator at the Port of Varna. The freights of various goods and materials of the new ferry line will be transported with Russian railway cars.
The new ferry line connecting Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna with the Russia town of Port Kavkaz will be launched on March 1, 2009.
