Odessa port to engage alternate cargos
Odessa sea trading port engages alternate cargoes, declared the press-cutting service of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Ukraine. Last year, stevedore company "MetalsUkraine", operator of container mini-terminal on the seventh mooring line, started negotiations with potential clients.
In January 2009, the company processed two grain carriers (11.500 tons). In February, grain cargo flow totaled 17.000 tons. On February 17, dry cargo ship "Hakke Deval" brought 14.000 tons of maize.
Till the end of the month, the port expects for one more grain cargo ship with 3.000 tons of maize.
The mooring line also processes metal cargos.
In 1960-80, the seventh mooring line of Odessa port specialized on processing of import grains. In 1990-the beginning of 2000, the mooring line processed mainly Russian and the domestic metal cargos for exporting.
